Nurse Manager – Camp Loyaltown
Full-Time: 35 Hours Flex Per Week
Salary: $85K - $95K/yr

The Camp Nurse Manager serves as the leader of the Camp Loyaltown Health Center, responsible for directing and coordinating all operations. This position focuses on leadership, supervision, and compliance, including hiring, training, and managing Health Center staff; overseeing budgets, schedules, and payroll; and ensuring adherence to ACA, DOH, and agency standards. The Nurse Manager collaborates with camp leadership to plan for each season, screens campers for admission, and ensures that medical protocols and documentation systems are followed. While providing clinical oversight as needed, the Nurse Manager’s primary role is to maintain a well-staffed, compliant, and efficiently operate a Health Center that supports the health and safety of all campers and staff. Direct clinical coverage is expected during emergencies, call-outs, or staffing shortages, and the Nurse Manager must be immediately available on call 24/7 during camp sessions (within 30 minutes), unless alternate coverage is arranged.
Location:
- Camp Season (May 1 – September): Based in Hunter, NY, working five days per week.
- Exact end date subject to camp schedule.
- Off-Season (September – April 30): Based in Hunter/Plainview, NY, working five days per week, with a requirement to be on-site in Hunter at least three days per week as per the needs of the program. Private accommodations are provided when on-site in Hunter.
In this role, you will:
- Lead all Health Center operations, serving as a supervisor and coordinator rather than providing direct clinical support (except in emergencies, call-outs, or staffing shortages).
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff, Health Care Assistants, and coordinators.
- Oversee Health Center operations, ensuring compliance with DOH, ACA, and agency policies.
- Manage supply ordering, inventory, infection control, and equipment checks (e.g., AEDs, refrigerators, medication storage).
- Provide oversight of all clinical practice, including medication administration, health screenings, incident reporting, and documentation.
- Ensure safe medication administration by trained nursing staff through training, supervision, and audits; Be present in the dining hall as needed (session start, mealtimes, new staff, or high-risk regimens.
- Partner with camp leadership and departments (Food Services, Staffing, Accommodations) to integrate health needs into daily operations.
- Lead Health Center meetings and participate in camp-wide meetings, family information sessions, and off-season planning.
- Model the agency’s mission and values in all interactions.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and collaboration within the Health Center team.
We require:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Current CPR/AED certification, renewed annually in accordance with DOH regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Candidates not yet proficient in Excel will receive training and must achieve proficiency within three months of hire)
- Three to five (3-5) years of nursing supervisory and/or leadership experience preferred
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities preferred
